Construction in the Czech Republic is evolving in every area. One of such areas goes to the next level. We are talking about the construction of large storage units. European developers and logistic companies are planning to construct large logistic hubs inside the Czech Republic with an area of 100 thousands of square meters. It’s twice larger than currently existing storages.
Due to its location in the centre of Europe, the Czech Republic demonstrates a great advantage as a storage provider. Due to its location in the centre of Europe, the Czech Republic demonstrates a great advantage as a storage provider. There is a visible trend by retailers and online shops to locate wholesale and storage centres on the border with Germany.
North of Prague is utilized by international American retail company VF Corporation. This giant operates in clothing and accessory markets via a retail network.
Cooperation with a logistic infrastructure of the P3 development company allows VF Corporation to supply whole Europe with clothing of such well-known brands as Wrangler, Lee and The North Face.
Last year Irish discount market company Primark opened a storage facility in Bor city (Tachov District). The brand focuses on youth clothing and analytics consider the company to become a competitor to such brands as Zara, H&M and Gap. It worth noting that Primark has no branded stores in the Czech Republic and uses the storage with DHL transporting network to supply products to shops of East Europe.
Large facility was opened in Cheb city last year by Tchibo with support of Accolade and Panattoni. The plan is to go on markets of Central, Eastern Europe and Germany.
Design of logistic hubs
In the design process of logistic facilities, our specialists provide detailed calculations of metallic constructions with consideration of wind, snow and other seismic factors.
The main functionality of a logistic hub is responsible storage of products. This requires thorough design and planning of optimal infrastructure (e.g. building layouts, transportation links) as well as communication systems.
Consideration of modern systems:
- heating and electricity provide optimal temperature and storage conditions,
- water piping and plumbing provide sanitary and hygienic standards,
- ventilation and conditioning,
- fire and security alarms.
Modern logistic centre oftentimes represents a multifunctional complex taking several thousands of square meters and able to accommodate:
- storage buildings,
- electrical substations,
- heating plant (autonomous heating system),
- water supply system,
- administrative facilities,
- household premises (lockers, showers, leisure rooms, dining),
- guard posts.
Logistic hub design is dictated by requirements of the technologic process and transportation logistics: direction of transportation, cargo loading / offloading process and wait period, cargo storage procedure.
Laying the foundation is the first stage of construction. Foundation design is based on the ground specification and supporting qualities.
The framework of a logistic hub is constructed with metal. Frame constructions provide valuable time savings which becomes crucial given a large area of the facility.
Roofing and walls of logistic centre are lined with sandwich panels. This technique provides several advantages. Sandwich panels are made of high-quality materials, provide great toughness and resistance to rusting, hence guarantees the longevity of your construction.
In addition, sandwich panels provide the ability to easily brand your facility by using and combining panels in branded colours. This way your industrial property can be extremely functional in utilization as well as look good from inside and outside.
